Beasts of the Southern Wild directed by first time director Benh Zeitlin
I was completely blown away by this movie.
Like all truly innovative creations, there is both a feeling of – where did that come from!? — and, why did it take so long to get here?!
Beasts of the Southern Wild deals with themes close to my heart, strong female characters, loyalty to a place, defiance, a wounded environment, father daughter relationship and fringe culture, etc.
It is a gut-wrenching blend of fairy tale and documentary style realism.
The shelters//boats in the movie, seem to be echoing the artist swoon — and the score is stunning!
The lesson I’ve taken away from Beasts of the Southern Wild is:
Sooner or later, you’re going to have to look your demons straight in the eyes and let them know you are stronger than them.
