art prize is a art competition that started in grand rapids MI in 2009  September 21 – October 9, it is the biggest art prize in the world with a grand prize of  ($250,000 to 1st place) the way it works is that any one can enter as ether a artist or venue. the public vote’s on there favorite piece and the one’s with the most votes make it into the top ten and then the one with the most votes wins the grand prize. but every one that makes it into the top ten wins something. It has been very controversial to let the public vote  (imagine art that appeals to every one) but i think that in the long run its just really cool that every one is getting into art. For both of the last years my family has been entered in art prize the first year are project was the Wonder wagon

The Wonder wagon was a mobile art gallery inspired by gypsy caravans built on an amish buggy chassy. It was made with the help of our team of collaborators Cameron and Rachael Vandyke, and Matt Fowler all wonderful people. Our venue was down by the grand river we had i little camp with three tents and live music every night and free craft work shops during the day. We brought the wagon to are venue with a Parade we had a drum group, and 50 cow bells we passed out, and  we wanted every one to dress in old faded vintage clothes we sent this video out to are friends as inspiration

we ended up with about 50 people in our parade we basically danced the whole two miles!

We were at are venue every day some time’s from 9pm to 9am we were really trying to win….. It got to be kind of a drag we would bounce around from the top 25 to top 50 every day the first week but we eventually settled in the top 50 just to offer a little perspective thats out of 18000 artists. It was really really hard and really really wonderful. It made us grow i think that are family is a lot stronger because of it.We met a lot of amazing people and danced to awesome music avery night. I will always look back on that as one of the most stressful things i’ve ever done and also one of the most fun!
